4.1 The student will use effective oral communication skills in a variety of settings

b)   contribute to group discussions across content areas 

Students will be able to contribute to group discussions across several lessons.  In particular, the students will be able to contribute an immense amount when talking about liquid measurements.  Students should be very familiar with these measurements and should have an easy time to contributing to conversation.  Contribution to group discussion will be crucial when I ask students, “When would you use this measurement in a real life scenario?”  Students should respond back with a thoughtful contribution

e)   contribute to group discussions across content areas 

Students will be able to apply this SOL when they are playing their jeopardy game.   Students should be able to use grammatically correct vocabulary in order to answer the questions.

4.2 The student will make and listen to oral presentations and reports 

a) use subject-related information and vocabulary 

Students must use subject related vocabulary and information in order to understand the topics that we are covering.  This is crucial because there is not many other ways to explain measurements without using the correct vocabulary.

4.2 The student will make and listen to oral presentations and reports 

b) listen to and record information

Students will be able to apply this SOL when I give the tools necessary to help students figure out certain problems.  Students will need to listen to the things that I am saying in order to write these tools in their notes.  This will implement the writing and recording aspect of the SOL.

4.2 The student will make and listen to oral presentations and reports 

c) organize information for clarity 

Students will be able to use this SOL when they are recording their information about measurement.  There will be times throughout my lesson where I will be going over equivalent measurements.  Students will need to organize their information properly in order to recognize the equivalent measurements in their notes. Not only this but these notes need to be organized clearly so that students can go back and read them when they are studying.
